Biography/ Philosophy of Care

Shawn P. Stallings, M.D., is a maternal-fetal medicine physician with Norton Children’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine.. Dr. Stallings earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Florida, and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Wake Forest University Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology with a special certification in maternal-fetal medicine.

Dr. Stallings specializes in high-risk pregnancies, helping mothers with health issues during pregnancy and working to ensure positive outcomes for mother and baby. He uses special ultrasounds and tests to check the baby’s health before birth and decides if extra care is needed during or after pregnancy.

His philosophy of care focuses on the importance of clear communication, and he makes sure mothers understand their care plan and are involved in making decisions. Dr. Stallings has special interests in caring for mothers with heart disease, infectious diseases and genetic conditions. He also focuses on teaching future doctors and improving access to maternity care.

When he is not working, Dr. Stallings enjoys running, hiking, reading and kayaking.
