Sergio A Cardinali, MD

Sergio A. Cardinali, M.D., is a hospital medicine physician with Norton Hospitalists. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in internal medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine. Dr. Cardinali initiated the hospitalist program in Louisville in 1997. He currently serves as medical director of hospitalist services and chair of medicine at Norton Audubon Hospital.

As a hospitalist, Dr. Cardinali collaborates closely with other health care professionals and plays a crucial role in managing patients during their hospital stay to ensure they receive attentive, personalized care. He specializes in adult care, and his expertise lies in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. Dr. Cardinali’s patient care approach centers on listening. He believes that spending quality time with patients fosters better understanding and personalized care.

Born in Argentina, Dr. Cardinali’s native language is Spanish. Prior to his medical career, he explored artistic pursuits such as photography, drawing and painting. Outside of work, Dr. Cardinali enjoys family time, cycling, music and art.
