Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Nathaniel R. Toop, M.D., is a neurosurgeon with Norton Neuroscience Institute. He earned his medical degree from UofL School of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgery residency and complex spine surgery fellowship at The Ohio State University in Columbus.
Dr. Toop subspecializes in spine surgery, providing care for patients with conditions that can cause severe pain and functional limitations. He is particularly interested in adult spinal abnormalities and revision spine surgery and is experienced in performing procedures ranging from minimally invasive techniques to advanced deformity correction. His care philosophy focuses on crafting individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific symptoms and goals, whether surgical or nonsurgical.
Dr. Toop is a Louisville native and graduate of Trinity High School. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son and daughter. Together, they love visiting parks, swimming, bike riding and horseback riding.
