Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Matthew J. Sousa, M.D., is an interventional cardiologist with Norton Heart & Vascular Institute. He earned his medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Ohio. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital, Lexington. He then completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.
Dr. Sousa realizes that every patient has specific needs and creates a tailored care plan for each individual. A native of Massachusetts, Dr. Sousa now lives in Louisville with his wife and enjoys spending time outdoors in his free time.

Dr Sousa has excellent bedside manners. He took the time to answer any questions I had and explained them in layman's terms. I would highly recommend Dr Sousa as a heart and vascular Dr.

Dr Sousa was kind, thoughtful, considerate and very professional. He also has studied my chart and had a plan already in his mind. Patricia was the person interviewing me prior to my visit. Very efficient and such a good listener.The person who scheduled the tests Dr Sousa ordered was excellent.

Dr. Sousa explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. Dr. Sousa has a calm demeanor that puts one at ease. I really like this practice ... the entire staff seems to know their stuff and they work well together.
