Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Laura M. Oldham, APRN, FNP-C, is a family nurse practitioner with Norton Immediate Care Center. In the urgent care setting, she focuses on providing immediate care for illnesses and injuries. She treats acute conditions, orders lab and diagnostic tests, prescribes medications and refers patients to specialists or higher levels of care when needed.
Laura earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Louisville and completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree at Chamberlain University, Addison, Illinois, with a focus on family nurse practitioner studies. She is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and holds certifications in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS).
Laura’s philosophy of care is to treat the whole patient — not just the illness or injury. She takes into account the patient’s physical and mental health, provides culturally sensitive care, and encourages patients to be involved in decisions about their treatment. She also has a strong interest in teaching patients how to stay healthy and prevent illness.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband. They like working in their yard and relaxing on the deck with their two dogs. She also enjoys time with their two grown sons, who live nearby.
