Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Charles M. Cunningham, M.D., is a hospital medicine physician with Norton Inpatient Specialists. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Lexington, and completed his residency in family medicine at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.
Dr. Cunningham works with patients who have been admitted to the hospital. As a generalist in this setting, he coordinates patient care between specialists to ensure patients receive the necessary treatments to recover from acute illnesses and return home safely.
Dr. Cunningham’s decision to become a physician was influenced by his grandfather’s struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Inspired by his passion for medical science and his Christian upbringing to use his gifts to help others, Dr. Cunningham felt a career in medicine was his calling.
