Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Sarah E. Campbell, APRN, PMHNP, is a nurse practitioner with Norton Cancer Institute. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Galen College of Nursing in Louisville, and her master’s degree in nursing with a specialization in psychiatry and mental health care from the University of Louisville School of Nursing. Sarah is certified as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Sarah’s clinical focus and experience are centered on providing comprehensive, patient-centered mental health care with specific emphasis on integrating evidence-based treatments. Sarah uses psychological and social science approaches to help cancer patients manage the emotional and psychosocial challenges associated with their diagnosis and treatment. She aims to improve their quality of life by addressing anxiety, depression, stress, coping mechanisms and other issues through therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, supportive counseling and medication. Her approach is holistic, empathetic and collaborative. She believes in the importance of building a trusting, nonjudgmental relationship with each patient. As a provider, her goals are centered around improving the mental health and overall well-being of her patients, while fostering an environment of trust, collaboration and continuous growth.
Outside of work, Sarah is a firm believer in the importance of balance and making time for things that bring joy and fulfillment. She loves traveling and exploring new places, whether it’s a weekend getaway or an international adventure. She cherishes spending quality time with her husband, their two dogs, and family and friends.
