Richard A. Sims II, M.D., is a cardiac electrophysiologist with Norton Heart & Vascular Institute. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, as well as advanced training in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston.

Dr. Sims treats a wide range of heart rhythm disorders. His goal is to help patients better understand their heart rhythm conditions and feel confident in their treatment plan. He believes strong physician-patient relationships are essential to high-quality care. Dr. Sims strives to ensure every patient feels heard, respected and supported while receiving individualized treatment that addresses the whole person.

Outside of work, Dr. Sims enjoys running, cycling and snow skiing, as well as following University of Kentucky basketball.
