Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Elizabeth Ann Thornton, PA-C, is a physician assistant with Norton Surgical Specialists. She earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Sullivan University in Louisville.
In her role as a surgical physician assistant, Elizabeth serves as an extension of the surgeon throughout the operative process. She assists during procedures, supports surgical efficiency and precision, and ensures continuity of care for patients before, during and after surgery. Her deep understanding of operating room workflow allows her to anticipate needs and contribute to safe, effective surgical outcomes.
Elizabeth’s patient care philosophy is rooted in connection, empathy and trust. She values being present for patients during vulnerable moments, whether that means offering reassurance before surgery or providing attentive, professional care while they are under anesthesia. She believes that technical skill and human connection are equally important in delivering excellent surgical care.
Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her children, caring for her animals, and expressing her creativity through ceramic art.
